I have been training dogs since 1983 when I purchased my first Rottweiler, Samatha. In 1992 I became an AKC judge, and have judged in many states as well as Nassau and Puerto Rico. I enjoy it very much. On weekends I am almost always at a show, either showing or judging, and once in awhile you might find me doing agility. I was previously the Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and editor of The Hydrant newsletter for many years. And if I am not doing a doggie related activity, look for me at the local shopping center.
I used to train household obedience classes for DOCOH, but now I do advanced classes - Open & Utility. My husband, Harold, does drill classes as well as household classes. He is also a judge.

In 1962 my mother, Inga Holm, and I purchased our first collie and formed Holmhaven Collies. We got interested in obedience and developed our own training program. Since then, our collies have earned 128 obedience titles, including 17 Utility Titles and an additional nine CDX's. Elected Duke of Holmhaven, U.D. and Holmhaven Magic Flash, U.D. received Dog World Awards of Distinction for getting their three titles within nine months and are the two youngest collies to ever acheive that distinction, doing so at 19 months and 17 months of age. While living in New Jersey, I also worked with my mother giving obedience training classes for the Montclair Y.M.C.A.

I have been involved in dog training since 1982 when my wife and I got our first Rottweiler. Having had smaller dogs for many years, this was our first experience with obedience training. We were fascinated by what we saw and a whole new world opened up for us. I put a CD on our first Rottweiler and was thrilled, and have titled through Utility. My wife's competitive spirits were aroused and she decided that Shelties would take us further in obedience than Rotties. In fact, she put an OTCH on that dog.
We attended training classes for many years and became involved with our local obedience club. We competed in trials with our dogs throughout Florida. We stewarded around the state and conducted fun matches for different clubs in the area.
My wife started judging around 1990 and after assisting her for ten years, I started judging in 2000 and I am approved to judge all obedience and rally classes. I presently conduct a Drill class and a Beginning class for the "Dog Obedience Club of Hollywood."

| I started training dogs in 1999 and became a household instructor in 2001. My pride and joy is Lord Einstein of Timberlake, a standard poodle, who is my first performance dog. Einstein and I have had much success in dog performance trials. I have been to many training seminars and camps all over the country and I am very eager to share what I have learned with my students. I do therapy work with Einstein at Nob Hill Elementary School in Sunrise in the Wags and Tales program which helps second grade students become better readers. My new standard poodle, Merlin, is in training for the obedience ring. |

I was first introduced to Obedience Training when I was very young, following my dad around as he trained our German Shepherd Dog. I became personally involved in training about 5 years ago...first in Agility, then in Obedience and Rally. I have put CD and RAE titles on my Golden Retriever, Fiona and we are currently training for Open. I also put CD and RN titles on my Golden Retriever, Maeve. Fiona and I have competed at DOCOF twice...last year scoring 194.5. I have been teaching private beginner Obedience lessons for almost 2 years and will be teaching my first class for DOCOH in the fall.
