AKC Obedience & Rally

Obedience trials demonstrate a dog’s ability to follow specified routines in the ring with its handler, and each level of competition requires mastering a set of skills that increase in difficulty. Rally is about teamwork as the dog and handler navigate a course together where the dog performs various turns and commands. Anyone looking for more information about dog sports can visit the AKC’s Dog Sports webpage here: https://www.akc.org/sports/

The Dog Obedience Club of Hollywood will be hosting 2 Obedience and 2 Rally trials on September 30 and October 1, 2023, with Obedience in the morning and Rally in the afternoon. Event times will be announced after closing.

FCAT

Sure, you think your dog is fast. But have you ever wondered how fast? Can your dog outrun Usain Bolt, who has been called the fastest runner in the world? They just might: Usain’s fastest time has been clocked at almost 28 mph – yet dogs have been known to reach speeds of 35-45 mph.

Well, you no longer have to wonder how fast your dog can run. Fast CAT® – which stands for Coursing Ability Test – is a timed 100-yard dash where dogs run one at a time, chasing a lure. It’s over before you know it — and it’s nothing short of awe-inspiring to watch your dog run at top speed, ears back, eyes focused, legs strong. And if your dog is really fast, you might earn bragging rights if their name makes onto our list of top 20 fastest dogs by breed! All dogs can participate in Fast CAT, whether purebred or mixed breed.

Fast Cat is hosted by Black Knights Coursing. There will be 6 events over 3 days.

What is Diving Dogs?
Diving dogs is a canine sport in which dogs are enticed to run the length of a dock and leap as far out into the water as possible to compete for height or distance. They’re motivated to fly with a prized toy, which is thrown just out of reach in order to help them keep their momentum and get the best launch angle possible.
