AKC Sanctioned Matches and club Run Thrus are excellent opportunities test you and your dog in a trial like environment. Matches are often scored, however the scores are not submitted to the AKC and therefore do not count toward any titles. There are three varieties of AKC Sanctioned Obedience matches (A, B & C) with different levels of formality. Most common is the “C” match which is the most casual. Sanctioned matches are usually associated with an AKC Obedience Trial. Run Thrus are similar to “C” matches in format but are not typically held at a trial. Often clubs will offer Run Thrus as warm up events prior to upcoming Obedience Trials.
