We are glad you stopped by to check us out!
We offer a wide range of classes from Puppy to Manners to Canine Good Citizen and more. We can also introduce you to a variety of dog sports, such as Agility, Obedience, Rally and Tracking. We hold classes weekly on Tuesdays at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds (both outdoors and under cover) in Davie, Florida. All of our classes are open to both purebred and mixed breed dogs. The cost for all 6-week Classes is $100 for non-members and $55 for full (non-provisional) Club members; the cost for all our 3-week Classes is $50 for non-members and $30 for full (non-provisional) Club members. Special 1-night session prices vary as noted. If you are not a full Club Member, please note that you cannot pay the Member discount price for any class; your class registration is not complete until the balance is paid.
All class registrations must be done online and pre-paid via PayPal no later than the prior Tuesday before the respective class or special session starts; please see the applicable registration and payment links below.
Protocol Requests
Please do not walk through or interrupt any ongoing class. Please wait for your class at the picnic area or the area designated by your instructor.
Flexi-leads are not permitted either on the premises or in any class. Dog shall remain on leash at all times, unless participating in a class at the Instructor’s permission to remove the leash for a specific exercise.
Dogs shall not be tied to fencing or other objects; crates are preferred or a second handler to hold your dog if you have to walk away from your dog for any reason.
Any dog that is known to be aggressive to other dogs or people can attend class wearing a well-fitting cage-type muzzle; further discussion with your class instructor regarding the Club’s Aggressive Dog Policy may be necessary.
6-week Classes
For anyone who has not taken a training class with us before, this is where you start, based on your dog’s age. All of our classes are open to purebred or mixed-breed dogs.
STAR Puppy Class
Begin your lifelong journey with your new puppy on the right foot ! There are no training pre-requisites for this class. Puppies who have had all of their puppy shots through the age of 1 year may enroll. If your puppy attends all 6 classes, passes the evaluation on the last night and is under the age of 1 year on graduation night, then it will be eligible to earn a STAR Puppy® Certificate from the AKC. Manners Class
This class provides the perfect opportunity to have fun and bond with your adult dog while teaching them good behaviors or brush up on your skills if your dog has previously taken any group training class. No training pre-requisites; dogs under 1 year of age should enroll in the STAR Puppy class.
Manners II Class
This class will reinforce the skills taught in Manners by adding challenges and teaching a variety of new skills and games to add to your training repertoire. Registration is open to any dog that has taken our 6-week Manners or CGC classes or similar group training.
Canine Good Citizen Class
This class focuses on the 10 elements needed to pass the CGC evaluation. This is not an introductory class; dogs who have had some obedience training or have taken our STAR Puppy or Manners classes are eligible to enroll. The CGC evaluation is offered to all attendees on the last night of class. After passing the evaluation, your dog will be eligible to receive an AKC title certificate and use the title “CGC” after its name. COMPETITION RALLY & OBEDIENCE CLASSES
If you want to go beyond basic training, there are a variety of sports you and your dog can compete in.
Developed in the 1930s, Obedience is one of the AKC’s oldest sporting events and is open to all purebred and mixed breed dogs who are AKC registered. Obedience trials feature dogs with the ability to obey a variety of commands which makes them well-behaved at home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs. Started in 2005, AKC Rally is a fun family sport with participation increasing each year and is open to all purebred and mixed breed dogs who are AKC registered. It is a perfect starting point for those who are new to dog sports, as Rally provides a challenging introduction to all competitive events for dogs and handlers alike. Obedience Skills Class
This 3-week class is geared towards beginner handlers who want to advance their training and have not previously trained for competitive Obedience/Rally or competed in trials; experienced handlers who want remedial work on the basics may also attend as space permits. Dogs who have taken any of our core 6-week classes or have had similar training can participate; dogs with no prior general obedience training are not eligible to participate in this class. The foundation exercises and positions for competing in Obedience and Rally will be introduced. This class is a pre-requisite for all beginner handlers in order to register for any of our 3 or 6-week competition Obedience and Rally classes.
Competition Obedience Level I
This 6-week class is for beginner handlers who have started training for competitive Obedience but have not yet competed in trials, as well as handlers with prior training and trialing experience who have a new dog to train. All beginner handlers must have taken our 3-week Obedience Skills class as a pre-requisite for this class. This class will focus on the foundation for getting the handler and dog ready to enter obedience trials at the Beginner Novice level, including learning the various exercises in those competition levels as well as an overview of ring handling and procedures.
Competition Obedience Level II
This 6-week class will focus on the foundation for getting the handler and dog ready to enter obedience trials at the Novice and Preferred Novice levels, including learning the various exercises in those competition levels and an overview of ring handling and procedures. All handlers must have completed the 6-week Obedience Level I class or have similar training/trialing experience.
Competition Obedience Level III
This 6-week class is for handlers who are training or trialing in competitive Obedience in the Beginner Novice or Novice/Preferred Novice classes and want to learn the next levels of competition. The class will include learning the various exercises in the Open and Graduate Novice levels and an overview of ring handling and procedures. All handlers must have completed the 6-week Competition Obedience Level II class or have similar training/trialing experience.
Rally Novice Class
This 6-week class is for beginners who have not previously competed in Rally or who have not competed in a long time. All beginner handlers must take the 3-week Intro to Obedience Skills class as a pre-requisite for this class. Rally regulations, ring handling and the Novice Rally signs will be covered.
Rally Intermediate Class
This 6-week class is for handlers who are training or trialing in Rally at the Novice level and want to learn the next level of competition. The Intermediate Rally signs will be covered, and Advanced signs will be introduced as time permits. All handlers must have completed the 6-week Rally Novice class or have similar training or trialing experience.
Introduction to Rally (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Excellent or Master)
These 3-week classes, when offered, will give students an introduction to the respective level of Rally signs and courses but do not offer in-depth training.
Please note these classes require pre-requisite training. In order to register, please make sure that you and your dog are eligible for the class you are interested in taking. Refunds for ineligible class registrations will be subject to a $5 cancellation fee.

AGILITY
Agility is a popular, fun, fast-paced sport to enjoy with your dog that was recognized by the AKC in the early 1990s. Dogs race against a clock as they navigate an obstacle course with strong concentration and speed. Whether you just want to have fun exercising with your dog or want to go further and enter an Agility competition, get ready for a rewarding experience that will get you and your dog in the best shape of your lives. We offer 5 levels of training classes plus an ongoing advanced practice class. Please review the class descriptions on our Agility page https://dogclubofhollywood.com/agility/ for information on each class level. Our Agility classes are open to all dogs, mixed breeds included, 9 months of age and older. Dogs MUST be non-aggressive to other dogs and people. Proof of rabies vaccine/titer is required. Each Level I through V series of classes is 6 weeks and costs $100; advanced practice classes are $100 for 6 weeks (does not have to be consecutive).

AKC FIT DOG
Dogs receive the same health benefits of physical activity as their humans do. Fitness activities offer increased performance for dogs that compete in sports, decreased risk of injury, a healthier body, lower stress levels as well as weight management benefits. The American Kennel Club is committed to improving and maintaining the fitness and health of dogs and their owners and has introduced the Fit Dog program to provide structured, individualized fitness plans that you and your dog can do together to earn titles and participate in community activities. Fit Dog Level 1
This 6-week class uses luring and shaping to train strength, flexibility, cardio and body awareness. The activities include warm ups, cool downs, paw targeting, balance, cavalettis, stretching, strength and cardio training. You and your dog will engage in fun and effective exercises to improve overall fitness and confidence. Dogs who have had some group obedience training or have taken any of our Obedience training classes are eligible to enroll in this class.
Fit Dog Level 2
This 6-week class builds on the fundamental skills and concepts learned in Level 1. This class will engage the dog and owner in low impact fitness activities while strengthening the canine core and body. Dogs will be evaluated on the last night of class by the Instructor and will receive an AKC Fit Dog Certificate. Pre-requisite: Dogs must have taken and successfully completed AKC Fit Dog Level 1 in order to participate in Fit Dog Level 2. If Fit Dog Level 1 was completed with a different dog club, proof of successful completion of the class is required to be submitted.

Tricks
Tricks are a great way to continue the bond between you and your dog plus the two of you can be the life of the party ! This 3-week class is for dogs who have had some obedience training or have taken any of our Obedience training classes. After the 3-week session, testing is held the following week for anyone interested in the opportunity to earn an AKC Trick Dog Title on their dog. Cost for the 3-week class including testing is $50 for non-members/$30 for Club members. Community Canine Good Citizen Class
This class focuses on the 10 elements needed to pass the CGCA evaluation. This 3-week class is for dogs who have the CGC title and testing is held on the last night of class. After passing the evaluation, your dog will be eligible to receive an AKC title certificate and use the title “CGCA” after its name. Cost for the 3-week class is $50 for non-members/$30 for Club members. Urban Canine Good Citizen Class
This is a 2-session class for dogs who have the CGC title. The first session is at the Arena to review the 10 elements needed to pass the CGCU evaluation and describe the meeting place where the evaluations will be held and the second session is at an offsite location for testing. After passing the evaluation, your dog will be eligible to receive an AKC title certificate and use the title “CGCU” after its name. Cost for the class and testing is $25 for both members and non-members. Obedience Skills Practice/Drill
Obedience Skills practice is a fun, fast-paced group class that will start at 8:00PM and is offered on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month (as noted on the Training Calendar). The class is open to all dogs who have taken any of our core 6-week training classes or have had other similar group training; dogs with no prior general obedience training are not eligible to participate in this class. The Instructor will call out commands for handlers to follow with their dogs, which will be include competition Obedience and Rally exercises and a variety of games. This class will give handlers the opportunity to continue working with their dog in a group setting to strengthen their relationship as well as enhance the dog’s ability to work through distractions. The Instructor may assist new attendees as time permits during or after class. This class is free for Members and open to current and former Students at no charge when offered on a 4th Tuesday. Please RVSP by Sunday night before a scheduled class by following the link on the Training Calendar.
SPECIAL EVENTS
AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluations
Do you think you’re ready to test your dog’s Canine Good Citizenship skills ? We offer CGC and CGCA testing periodically. Cost is $25.00 (fee waived for prior DOCOH CGC/CGCA Class students who did not pass the evaluation after their class).
AKC Trick Evaluations
Do you think you’re ready to test your dog’s Tricks skills ? We offer Tricks testing periodically (all levels). Cost is $25 (fee waived for prior DOCOH Tricks Class students who did not pass the evaluation after their class).
Rally Run Thrus
Rally run thrus will start at 7:30PM when offered. Run thrus are open to anyone training or trialing in Rally in at least the Novice level; these sessions are not suitable for dogs or handlers with no prior Rally training as no instruction is provided. This class is free and offered for Members only.
